Full Description:
Leslie to Carleton. Charleston. Proposes sending the North and South Carolina regiments and Colonel Brown's Corps to East Florida. Also the withdrawing thence of the 4th Battalion, 60th Regiment under Lieutenant-Colonel Glazier. This change would place the command on Lieutenant-Colonel McArthur who is well fitted for it. Many of the South Carolina Regiment have gone off to the enemy. Proposes to reduce the regiment to infantry instead of dragoons. The Returns sent show the weakness of these corps, will await order before making the change. Preparations for evacuation will probably be completed about three weeks after the arrival of transport.
