Full Description:
Carleton to General George Washington. New York. Long detailed letter which contains a copy pf the minutes of the court martial appointed for the trial of Captain Richard Lippincott, accused of ordering the execution of Joshua Huddy, together with such other documents as 'may serve to manifest the whole course of the proceedings'. Mentions firstly that from these documents your Excellency will clearly perceive that this event was so far from being authorised by the government. Also with a schedule of enclosures in a letter from Carleton to Washington.
