Full Description:
Carleton to Poyntz. New York. Warrant to pay Messrs, Sneden and Dixon the sum of £233 11s 6d, New York currency, or £583. Being payment of the sloop 'Dove', formerly called 'John and William', which was cut out of the Chesapeake by some prisoners who deserted from on board a flag of truce in order that she may be restored to the owners in Virginia, as per the annexed account and certificate from the wardens of the Port of New York.
