Full Description:
Brigadier-General John Campbell to Carleton. Halifax. Received previous letter and contents shall be complied with. Discusses Colonel Hatzfeld's arrival with a body of German recruits ready to sail for New York. News of the French fleet on the coast, their taking of the 'Allegiance' sloop and their chasing of the 'Chatham'. Also on the failure of the provision ships to arrive, and the purchase of 400 barrels of flour. An enclosed 'Return' shows the weak and sickly condition of the garrison.
