Full Description:
[Carleton] to Governor Benjamin Harrison. New York. Draft. Sends duplicates of two letters dated July 26 and Aug 5 entrusted to Charles Godfrey; also a copy of a pass given to Godfrey 'recommended as a man of trust and integrity' and other sailors (all naval prisoners) paroled for navigating the 'William and John' to the Chesapeake. Also sends a state of the condition of the sloop with a list of articles belonging to her and with which she is delivered up according to the pass and engagement enclosed. She sailed from New York on 'the 15th inst'. Acknowledges letter of July 26 received since the vessel sailed; 'Will await any further application with a perfect confidence in his Excellency's candour'.
