Full Description:
[Carleton] to [Haldimand]. Encloses a copy of the letter sent to Washington by Carleton and Admiral Digby as Joint Commissioners of Peace in accordance with dispatches from England. Has shaped his ostensible conduct by the view of an expectation of peace on our side but there is no like disposition on the part of the enemy. Must remain vigilant. The French fleet under Vaudriel is on the coast and seen near Boston. The imimnent approach of a fleet under Admiral Pigot which may produce some change in the enemy plans.
