Full Description:
Carleton to Haldimand. New York. Acknowledges receipt of Haldimand's duplicate letters of 29 July and 11 August. Approves his conduct with the Vermonters. Laments the cruelties committed by the Indians and knows that these were neither countenanced nor concurred with by Haldimand. He [Carleton] will not be going to [Quebec] at any time. Part of Pigot's fleet has arrived and the rest are upon the coast.
