Full Description:
George Rose to Carleton. Treasury Chambers, Whitehall. By command of the Treasury sends a copy of the last report of the Commissioners for the Public Accounts which related entirely to extraordinaries of the army. Says that Carleton's previous actions in this connection leave no doubt that he will use 'every possible means to lessen the expenditure at a time when it is so highly important that every exertion should be strenuously used for that purpose'. Also says a close watch must be kept on advances made to officers by way of imprest - 'every immediate control of the expenditure by such persons must be of the utmost consequence'.
