Full Description:
Major-General James Paterson to Roger Johnson, Assistant Commissary General. Halifax. Asks, following a request from Brigadier-General Campbell who is going to command at Penobscot, that Mr Colin Campbell be permitted to act as assistant commissary there. That Johnson is to take the first opportunity of informing the Commissary-General. This is followed by a letter from Johnson to Colin Campbell dated 18 September directing him to embark for Penobscot where he is to take the direction of the Department until fresh instructions are sent. Is to receive the stores now in the charge of Samuel Spencer and to follow the enclosed instructions without deviation. A further letter of the same date to Spencer announces Campbell's appointment and directs him to hand over the stores and take a receipt of the sound provisions etc; expects Mr Crawford will order the unsound for his credit. Instructions for his future employment. To take pasage for Halifax by the first opportunity.
