Full Description:
Richard Lorentz, paymaster of the Hessain Troops to Carleton. New York. Petition. Asks subsistence for the commissioned officers of the Hessian hospitals which have hitherto been provided for at the expense of the Landgrave but which by 'the 12th Article' should have been allowed by His Britannic Majesty. Proper 'Returns' have been from time to time given in to Doctor Nooth showing the amount of the pay of the officers, but Lorentz does not have the power to advance any more money to them. Therefore is applying for a warrant for £5,000 sterling which will allow him to satisfy their immediate demands.
