Full Description:
Major-General Patterson to Carleton. Halifax. Number 1. Discussion includes how the recruits are arrived, disembarked and cover is being prepared for them against the winter. Has inspected the works and defences, some of them are in very bad order. Brigadier-General Campbell is embarked for Penobscot, Captain McKinnon sent to take the post at Annapolis, and Mr Johnson is making every exertion to unload as many victuallers as possible to be ready to sail with transports for Charleston. Fears a scarcity of fuel, and the millitary chest is very low. Transmits proceedings of a court enquiry held on Commissary Crawford, also monthly 'Returns'.
