Full Description:
Lieutenant-General Alexander Leslie to John Mathews Esquire. Headquarters, Charleston. Before he completes the arrangements for withdrawing from the garrison, he is willing to open a negotiation on the subject of the letter that Mathews wrote on 'the 17th ultimo', in the hopes that the respective interests of either party may by such a measure be adjusted on terms of mutual advantage and satisfaction. If Mathews accepts the proposal, he requests the authorized meeting arranged be brougt forward. Desires a passport for his Commissioners to proceed to the place appointed.
