Full Description:
Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Brown to Leslie. St Augustine [Florida]. Informs that from the arrival of Mr McIntosh, Commissary for the Lower Creeks, has learned of the Indian alarm at the evacuation. Considers the services of Indians are in no degree adequate to the charge, but whether the purchase of their neutrality is an object at this juncture, His Majesty can determine. Will attend to economy. Is now employed in procuring land and provisions on the St John's river for the refugees sent by General Clarke. Has need of tools. Hopes those inhabitants of Charleston who intend to remove to East Florida will bring their plantation tools with them.
