Digby to Carleton. New York. Regrets to be informed by General Robertson that they are to make use of the transports ready for sea, rather than put the prisoners into empty prisons for three weeks. Is persuaded on reflecting upon the demand there is for transports, the delay and uncertainty, he will disapprove of the measure. Says that if Carleton knew all that he did, he is sure he would see it the same.
