Full Description:
[Sir Guy Carleton] to [Thomas Townshend, Secretary of War]. New York. Reporting that since his last letter, the French have encamped to the left of the American army near Verplanks Point [New York] and that no material movement has taken place. He still remains with his troops encamped near the center of the island to observe. Colonel Musgrave arrived yesterday from Charleston with dispatches from Lieutenant-General Leslie, copies of which are enclosed. Also sends a distribution of the troops in the district of New York and its dependencies.
