Benjamin Franklin, Minister Plenpotentiary from the United States of America at the Court of France. Being informed by Richard Oswald that General Conway desires much to have an English officer, Captain Page of the artillery, absolved of his parole as he has occasion for his service as aide-de-camp. The application is made to Franklin for obtaining such discharge and being further of the opinion that it will be pleasing to Congress that Conway should be obliged. He does hereby, as far as his power may lie, absolve the parole but on the condition that an order be obtained for the discharge of some prisoner officer of equal rank to the English in America be named by Congress or General Washington.
