Lieutenant-General John Campbell to Carleton. York Island encampment. Informs of the futile, frivolous reasons assigned by General Galvez for his undue detention of Captain Deans of the Royal Navy and Brigade-Major Campbell at the time that he, Lieutenant-General Campbell and the garrison of Pensacola departed from West Florida on 7 June 1781. He views the unwarranted conduct of Galvez as a direct national insult.
