Full Description:
Major Frederick MacKenzie to Lieutenant-General Alexander Leslie. New York. Sends the Commander-in-Chief's approbation of Leslie's conduct in those matters which have lately occurred in Carolina and which are particularised in his letter and several enclosures. With respect to the prisoners and Mathews' letter, he is to follow the instructions already given and that in case of demands for rents of houses and all other money matters, the claimants should be referred to the Treasury. Also to be informed that His Excellency has thoughts that Stewart is to command in East Florida. Encloses copy of letter from Mrs Butler from Philadelphia.
