Full Description:
[Carleton] to [Yonge]. Number 7. Enclosed a state of the 71st Regiment, with a list of the officers of that as well as of the 2nd [battalion?] 71st Regiment, according to the last returns. Is prevented from making a distrubution of the non-commissioned officers, drummers and private men until he is informed of the numbers of the two additional companies at Newfoundland. They never have been put on the strength of this army. Major Patrick Campbell of the '2nd 71st Regiment' died 31 August, by which its establishment becomes reduced to one Major.
