Full Description:
Intelligence. From a gentleman in Pennsylvania to one in New York. (An R.J. charged with delivering confidential papers to the addressee in New York was unable to do so and therfore destroyed them). Gives a lengthy summary of the purport of those papers at the end of which says he does not know whether a second representation will be made owing to the difficulty of gathering the people together when they come from different provinces and counties. Gives leave to publish at the addressee's discretion the several addresses to the King and Secretary of State and every representation to 'your' generals omitting only any information that might identify persons concerned. Asks if New York will be evacuated the ensuing spring and is it true that Carleton, offended by the measures at home respecting America, has sought and been granted permission to return as is positively asserted by some. No date. Endorsed 16 October 1782.
