Full Description:
Carleton to Poyntz. New York. Warrant to pay Arodi Thayes, tide surveyor for the port of Philadelphia, £50 11s 10d. Being eight months and 24 days pay as the same from 6 January to 30 September 1782 at £80 a year, the same having been paid upon his memorial with the approval of Charles Stewart, cashier and paymaster of Customs in North America, given in his letter to John Smith, secretary to Sir Henry Clinton dated London 1 September 1779.
