Full Description:
Leslie to James Paterson. Charleston. Carleton having ordered that the heavy ordnance be sent to Halifax following the evacuation of the Charleston garrison, it has been embarked on board the fleet together with a number of refugees who wish to go to [Nova Scotia]. Has not sent six months provisions as as he thinks Paterson can supply these from his own stores. They are not to receive rum. They have received their clothing and those who served in the militia have no claim on the government having been paid to 31 December inclusive when they were told they were not to expect any further allowance. Encloses a list. They are under the care of Colonel Campbell who has lost considerable property in North Carolina and whom he wishes to recommend. The companies of the 82nd, which have served here are ordered to join the regiment. Major Robertson is to deliver this letter.
