Full Description:
Mary Barclay to General Sir Guy Carleton. New York. Memorial. She is a widow of Reverend Doctor Barclay of the churches in New York City. As a consequence of her children being in the King's service all her personal estate and part of her real estate was confiscated in 1776. She is now impoverished and old, and has a son to maintain who is incapable of maintaining himself. She begs some relief. With recommendation by Robert Alexander, not dated. Referred to General Robertson 24 November, and admitted by Robertson as among the first people on the refugee lists, 5 December. Note by Deputy Adjutant-General Mackenzie on 25 January 1783, for £100 to be paid to her by Colonel Morris.
