Full Description:
[Sir Guy Carleton] to Thomas Townshend. Encloses a copy of his reply to General Washington, and also includes an answer which was made by the Hessians in Philadelphia goal to the general officer of the Americans who tried to persuade them, being hopeless of relief or exchange, to indent themselves for servitude. The three flagships of prisoners from England are detained in Boston. A cartel to order the ships to New York has also been detained. Further to his letter of 13 September about Captain Asgill, Captain Schaack of the 57th Regiment is no longer a close prisoner. Also transmits a copy of a letter from General Haldimand about the discontent of the Six Nations and other Indian Tribes.
