Full Description:
[Sir Guy Carleton] to Thomas Townshend. New York. Transmits duplicates of letters addressed to the Secretary of State by the Sandwich packet which left New York on 15 October. Has received dispatches of August and 6 September by two packet ships - the 'Swallow' on 21 October and the 'Duke of Cumberland' on 26 October. Encloses state of the army at 27 October. Transmits letters of public business. Entrusts the above dispatches to the care of his aide-de-camp, Captain Conway.
