Full Description:
[Carleton] to Comte de Rochambeau. New York. Received his letter of 27 October as Captain Elphinstone was taking leave for England therefore gave his letter directly to him, and that for Admiral Digby (as Digby was on board). Has not yet heard from him but knows it was Admiral Pigot's purpose to return all the servants and give every accommodation which could be wished. Hopes nothing has happened to frustrate these intentions. The letter to Mr La Touche has been given into Elphinstone's care in whose ship he is embarked.
