Mr John Livingston of New York to Sir Guy Carleton. New York. Memorial. Requests compensation, the surrender or other arrangement regarding a sugar house, dwelling house and land, now used as a prison, a guard house and other occupations. The prisoners have destroyed or damaged much of his property and possessions. A deposition dated 7 November 1782 from Philip J Livingston details the condition of and the handing over of the sugar house at the request of Brigadier-General Martin in October 1776. Expectation of return in good condition. On examination this was not the case. A depostion dated 7 November 1782 from John Livingston describes losses as a consequence of his part of the sugar house being taken by the government, to be at least £500.
