Tonyn to Leslie. St Augustine. Has received previous letters. Captain Edward's listing, will inform him of the disembarkation of the troops and the Loyalists, and of the completion of the stores. Desires to return the hearty thanks of himself and refugees for the ample provision sent for the subsistence of themselves and 'negroes'. Merchants will be accommodated in town houses and planters will soon be settled. Agrees with Leslie that no 'negroes' who belong to Rebels, should be clandestinely moved [away from their Patriot masters] to the West Indies or from this province, and has given orders to the Attorney-General accordingly. Is pleased to know there is a prospect of compensation for the Loyalists, has need of ordnance and field artillery.
