Full Description:
Carleton to Lord Adam Gordon. New York. Has received letter of 22 July relative to the clothing of the 26th Regiment which is in the Quartermaster General's stores here, excepting 179 complete suits lately sent to Halifax for the recruits of the 57th and 64th, and for which proper receipts are transmitted. The remainder shall be taken care of for his benefit. Could not appoint Captain Skelly to thev majority as the King disapproves of more than one major in the 71st Regiment.
