Full Description:
John Calef to Maurice Morgann, Secretary to the Commander-in-Chief. Fort George, Penobscot. That he was appointed inspector and commissary at Penobscot at 7s 6d per day. That after his visit to England in May 1780 he was appointed assistant surgeon to the hospitals in Nova Scotia with the pay of 10s per day. On his return he intimated to Brigadier-General Campbell his wish to resume his former employments as he could carry them on without prejudice to that of assistant surgeon but was told that a Mr Robert Pagan had been appointed. Refers to Captain Henry Mowat for his character. Begs that his memorial be laid before His Excellency and that the contract be made good as well as being appointed superintendent to the Indians.
