Full Description:
Carleton to Poyntz. New York. Number 85. Warrant to pay Lieutenant Alexander Gray, acting paymaster to 40th Regiment of Foot the sum of £944 19s 10d sterling. Being subsistence for the said regiment from 25 October to 24 December 1782, both days included as per the annexed account. From which £354 17s 8d sterling is to be detained for 34,069 rations of provisions issued and also £6 2s 4d sterling for stoppages for the hospital at New York from 25 August to 24 December 1782 inclusive, as per the annexed receipt and account.
