Full Description:
Gordon, Biddulph and Gordon to Carleton. New York. They are £74,447 17s 9d in advance for government, upwards of £60,000 of which is deposited with them by persons who do not wish to remit it to England. They find it impossible to raise money sufficient for the service and submit whether it may not be expedient to draw at a greater discount in order to induce the merchants and inhabitants to bring in their money. They will be happy to adopt any other mode that Carleton may be pleased to point out.
