Full Description:
Captain Sir Edmund Affleck to Carleton, from the 'Warwick', off New York. Relates that Captain Tillidge, of the sloop HMS Mentor, who delivered this letter, informs that his vessel having no marines is in a poor state of defence. Affleck requests that Carleton provide at least 20 men to go aboard the ship for its defence of the batteries at Turtle Bay against the intended [American] attack.
