Full Description:
Governor Archibald Campbell to Carleton. Jamaica. Acknowledges letters. Discussion includes the taking of rum to New York, the transportation of Spanish forces from Port au Prince to Cape Nichola Mole, and the enemies 'discomforted intentions' of attacking Jamaica [after their unsuccessful attempt to capture Gibraltar]. The 100 men of Odell's American Rangers lately sent to the Spanish Main' [in an attempt to prevent the annihilation of His Majesty's settlers and 'friendly Indians on that shore' [i.e. the surviving Caribs and Arawaks], the movements of the Spanish [at the Black River] and the French troops and fleets, and the artillery and stores which have come into Campbell's possession.
