Full Description:
Christopher Weir to [Carleton]. Fort Kniphausen, New York. Petition. Had the honour to serve as a volunteer under His Excellency in Canada. Had the misfortune to be captured with General Burgoyne's army [in the Saratoga campaign] and remained a prisoner for four years, and escaped at last from the jail at Poughkeepsie [Hudson Valley] with the help of friends to the government. Having joined the 33rd Grenadiers now desires to be in a higher rank than that of Private Centinal.
