Full Description:
Governor Archibald Campbell to Carleton. Jamaica. Sends this by Lord Charles Montagu, who has received authority to raise a second battalion to the Duke of Cumberland's Provincial Regiment of foot. Encloses letter giving this authority. Commends Montagu for the manner in which he raised the 1st battalion and the use it has been in Jamaica. Hopes the 2nd battalion will be alowed to be raised under the direction of the Inspector General's office at New York, from which Lord Charles found the greatest benefit when he raised the first. Solicits for him aid in both raising and transporting.
