Murray to Mackenzie. New York. Recommending a gentlewoman whose merits as the widow of a servant of the crown during the war, are found to be such as deserve attention. As a refugee she is refused, her husband's residence being New York and her situation is too decent for the almshouse. Suggests an allowance of £40 per annum New York currency from 1 October which would enable her to live till summer, in the hope of receiving an invitation from her friends to go home.
