Full Description:
Lieutenant-Colonel Thompson to Your Excellency [Carleton]. Begs leave to inform by Captain MacDonald of the Volunteers of Ireland, that there are now serving in that corps upwards of twenty men who formerly belonged to the 16th Regiment of Light Dragoons. If that Regiment should be drafted Lieutenant-Colonel Thompson humbly submits it to Your Excellency, whether it would not be for the good of the King's service to allow such of the private men as have formerly served in the cavalry to join the King's American Dragoons in preference to them being put into any regiment of infantry.
