A list of the transports in the service of government in the department of the Navy Board now in North America and the West Indies, distinguishing their stations, prepared in the best manner it could be done from Captain Tonkens personal information and the letters from Captain Chads who succeeded him, dated 12 January last. Listed under troop ships at New York totalling 13,106 tons, troop ships at Charleston 5,151 tons, and transports at Halifax 888 tons. Victuallers at Charleston 5,868 tons. On their passage from Charleston to New York, and an abstract showing a total of 10,864 tons. Noted that their condition [of vessels] is supposed to be in general, fit for service.
