New York. Three papers. 'Disposition of the people towards England'. First paper. Information from Connecticut on the favourable change in the attitude of people in Seabrooke, Lyme, New London, Norwich and Killingworth. Second paper. Information by Mr - of [-], Connecticut. Great change in the general temper of New England. Impatient of the oppression, fraud and intolerable burden of taxes. The great majority desire peace at any rate. People from the old colonies continue to flock to Vermont, some from loyalty, others to be rid of taxes. Events at Hebron. Carleton universally well spoken of. Third paper. Information from Rhode Island. Reports the opposition to the [Continental] tax gatherers in Gloucester and consequent action taken by the Sheriff of Providence. Proposing a reconcilliation and reunion of the two countries on terms familiar to those enjoyed by the Kingdom of Ireland.
