Full Description:
Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Brown, commanding the King's Rangers, to Carleton. St Augustine. Memorial. Recounts his military service from 1776; the orders given by Sir Henry Clinton when Commander-in-Chief, regarding the formation of the King's Rangers and confirmation of Brown's and their rank of 1 June 1776; the circumstances resulting in neither he nor his officers receiving any commissions except those formerly delivered by Major-General Tonyn; mentions that since the start of the rebellion he has raised over 1,200 men of which nearly 500 have been killed; asks that Carleton be pleased to give the such order regarding the rank of the King's Rangers as they have a right to expect.
