Full Description:
Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Brown to Carleton. St Augustine. Very detailed letter. Quotes extract of a letter from Major de Peyster dated at Fort Detroit 18 July last [1782], giving details of an Indian victory over 600 of the enemy [Pennsylvania militia] on the River Sandusky [Ohio Country], on 4 June [1782] and the death of Colonel Crawford [i.e. burning at the stake] at the hands of the Delawares; that all is quiet in Canada it being too well fortified to fear attack; also detailed information regarding the handling of the various Indian tribes loyal to the King &c. Also reports that Indian goods destined for Jamaica were sent to New Orleans to the prejudice of the king's service; will try to obtain proof to send to Carleton. Note- [the Battle of the Sandusky the last notable engagement of the Revolutionary War].
