Full Description:
Margaret Nealon to Carleton. Newtown, Long Island. Memorial. Is widow of Captain James Nealon of the 1st Battalion of the New Jersey Volunteers. Her husband died 5 June 1781 leaving her with two small children (five and almost two), the younger one sickly. Has nothing but what she works for and but for the humanity of the battalion's officers would have been reduced to the greatest want and misery. Asks for such relief as he thinks proper. With a certificate signed by De Lancey, same date.
