Full Description:
Major-General James Paterson to Carleton. Halifax, Nova Scotia. Number 9. Transmits five lists of warrants granted to him for the several services. The indispensible expenditures are enormous, hopes for commands as to the propriety of continuing them under their present condition. Thinks much might be saved by the assistance of the navy exerted by the permanent officer in this harbour. On representations of the necessity of a second armed vessel, has directed the purchase of a brig to carry stores and provisions to advanced posts. Sent to Penobscot for Captain Hartcup as Captain Spry has leave to go to England. At present he is adjusting his accounts which could not be done previous to Brigadier-General Campbell's departure for Penobscot. Measures are being taken respecting troops and stores for Quebec.
