Full Description:
Hu. Cairns to Wynant Van Zandt. Quartermaster-General's office, New York. Certifying that Van Zandt has been employed in repairing, cleansing and keeping in repair sundry wells and water pumps &c., for the use of the Kings troops hospitals since 1776 until 26 May 1782. During which time he was paid in quarterly payments by the Quartermaster-General and that on or about 26 May 1782, he had information sent to him to continue in the above mentioned service as usual until further orders. For which Brook Watson Esquire, Commissary General, was instructed to pay him agreeable to a letter sent by him to Major-General William Dalrymple, Quartermaster-General, dated 26 May 1782 of which the annexed is a copy.
