Full Description:
Carleton to Poyntz. New York. Warrant to pay Lieutenant Alexander Gray, Acting Paymaster to the 40th Regiment of Foot the sum of £905 6s 10d sterling. Being subsistence for the said regiment from 25 December 1782 to 23 February 1783, both days included as per the annexed account. From which the sum of £383 16s ½d sterling to be detained for 36,845 rations of provisions issued. Also £4 16s 8d sterling for stoppages due to the hospital at New York.
