Lieutenant-Colonel Archibald McArthur to Carleton. St Augustine, Florida. 'Negroes' have been granted by the Assembly to make the abbatis and preparations are being made for building the magazine. A jury has valued the land required for it and the road leading thereto at £100 sterling, in which McArthur is obliged to acquiesce. Also, Lieutenant McKenzie returns home in the spring and desires to know if Captain Kerr may be appointed to fulfil his duties as Deputy Fort-Adjutant and Deputy-Barrackmaster. He has written to the Governor urging him to take steps for rendezvousing and training the Militia, which has been totally discontinued for some years past.
