Full Description:
Two documents. First - certificate dated 3 March 1783, sealed and signed by John Hancock that Joseph Nye and Nathaniel Shiverick are justices of the peace for the county of Barnstable, Massachusetts. Second - account of livestock belonging to James Bowdoin, Mrs James Bowdoin junior, and John Read taken by British forces and refugees in 1778 and 1779 from Nanshan Island near Martha's Vineyard. Signed and sworn by Paul, Zephaniah and Jeremiah Robinson before Nathaniel Shiverick; affidavit by John Nye of Sandwich before Joseph Nye relating to stock belonging to Elisha and John Nye.
