Full Description:
Captain John Steel to Rear Admiral Robert Digby. 'Keppel', Princes Bay [Staten Island, New York]. A party of the noted Storey's gang landed on Staten Island on 3rd at about 9pm at night. They surrounded two houses within a mile of the 'Keppel', in one of which houses he had a wounded man and an attendant who was ill treated and taken prisoner. Also mentions that a small whale boat was carried off and that all craft moving by water in this quarter are in danger of being captured. By information learns that two gun boats and three whale boats under the command of Mr John Storey are now out.
