Full Description:
David Thomas to Carleton. Paymaster-General's Office, New York. Discusses how upon the evacuation of Charleston he was under the necessity of sending his assistant Mr Gale, with £15,000 sterling to St Augustine to pay the troops in that garrison. At the same time he charged Gale with giving him information of the best and safest mode of supplying the garrison with money in the future and requests His Excellency's approval of the method along with £10,000 sterling.
